This Year's Model Updates:

Jeep has heavily revised the Grand Cherokee's 4.7-liter V8 for 2008, and this popular engine is now rated at 305 horsepower -- nearly as much as the larger Hemi V8. The company has also given the cabin a much-needed refresh, adding more soft-touch surfaces, upgraded lighting and a telescoping steering wheel. Newly available features include xenon HID headlights, the MyGIG hard-drive-based audio/navigation system, a back-up camera, a rear entertainment system and Sirius Backseat TV. For buyers planning to tap into the JGC's utility, technology like hill descent control, hill start assist and trailer sway control is now offered as well. Finally, availability of the diesel V6 has been expanded to the base Laredo model.

Pros:
  • Wide range of potent engine options, true off-road capability, agile on pavement considering its rugged nature.
Cons:
  • Very small backseat and cargo area limits functionality, bouncy highway ride, poor fuel economy with either of the Hemi V8s.

  • Great Mid Size SUV - 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Ive Owned and driven many types of SUVs, from the Ford Expedition, and Explorer, Suburban, Dodge Durango, which Ive all owned. To the Hummer, Cayanne, Range Rover, which my friends own. Im very impressed, with Jeep Grand Cherokee, it has a very sturdy, yet comfortable, luxurious drive. The layout of the controls, and room and the car are great. If you are thinking of mid size suv to get. I highly suggest this one. One thing that might help you over the top is the fact that this is the Suv choice of many millionaires.

Purchased the GC just a few weeks ago and couldnt be happier. Bought a loaded Laredo with the 4.7 engine. This motor has plenty of power and has decent fuel mileage but not great. Leather interior is very comfortable and all controls are very easy to reach and use. Jeep redesigned the GC interior for 08 and it shows...it looks richer and not so plasticky. Exterior front fascia has been improved also and has a more "clean" look to it. All in all I highly recommend especially with the 4.7 engine.

I recently purchased a 2008 Black Jeep Cherokee Limited (4.7L V-8). Believe it or not, this is now the third Black Jeep Cherokee in our garage (both my wife and son drive 2004 models)...and overall we couldnt be more pleased with the performance, reliability and quality. I am getting 19+ MPG! The 2008 has all the "bells and whistles" (automatic high beams, automatic wipers, iPod compatible, excellent storage, GPS, chrome accents that really dress up the exterior especially of a black vehicle). My only complaint is with the narrow leg room and pedal configuration for the driver (however I am over 6 tall).

  • Love this design - 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I looked at many other SUVs, but keep coming back to Jeep. I have owned 4 others and love the new design. It is fun to drive and the comfort is great. It looks good coming and going and for the price it was a wise decision. There are many mopar accessories you can buy (which I have already) to make the exterior even better.

  • Very Nice for the Price - 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I recently traded my old car in because I needed a vehicle with a trailer hitch. I had looked at many different vehicles, and none had everything I wanted. This Jeep is perfect for me. I got a well equipped Laredo 4WD model with the Red Rock Crystal Pearl paint, and black interior. The color is awesome! It drives smooth and it has a lot of power. The build quality feels very good. I love the sun and sound package which has a power sunroof and the 6 CD and satellite upgraded radio. Overall, for the decent price, it is a great car.

  • 9th Jeep! - 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Im glad to be back in a Jeep! I have been driving them since my first car purchase at 18 years old (Im 40). I was given a GMC Envoy from my last employer and have been Jeepless for the last 4 years! The GMC was great but didnt compare to my new 08 Hemi Overland JGC. It drives and preforms like a dream!

  • Love my Jeep - 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee

This is my familys 5th Jeep and I love it! We purchased an 08 Commander in March and this rig a few days ago - by far the most comfortable Jeep I have owned or rode in. I have no preconceived notions, it isnt a BMW or MB Its a Jeep and meant to be dirty and ridden hard. It is responsive, quiet on the road, reasonable at the pump (22 MPG so far), and an overall fun experience. Not to mention I purchased on last day of July and got the $6000 factory rebate before it expired. I have found Jeep very responsive at the dealer level to customer issues in the past - far more than the company car Fords and Mercs I had been driving.

  • Its a Beauty, inside and out - 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee

After considering many other vehicles, Im so glad I got the JGC. Smooth acceleration, quiet cabin, great techie tools--the Nav, bluetooth, hard drive for my music (uploaded via USB, about 800 songs fit w/room to spare). Incentives made it more affordable to lease than the Liberty, and when I feel the Hemi respond, I know I made the right choice. Of course, the gas mileage is lousy, but after driving a 4-banger for 3 years, I was ready to get some power....and this Jeep really delivers. It won out over the Honda Pilot, Ford Edge, Saturn Vue, Mazda CX-9 & Mitsubishi Outlander. The incentives plus dealers willingness to negotiate made it a no-brainer. If you like em loaded, look at JGC!

  • Love the JEEP - 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I have heard many stories out there about the poor gas milage of the Jeeps. Please, Do not beleive them. Sure, they will drink down the gas in gulps if you are getting it on, which they will do! However in mixed driving to work 25 miles mixed city and freeway, with the smaller V8, the Jeep Grand Cherkee Limited is AVERAGING 19.5 Miles per gallon. On the Highway, it is getting 24 miles per gallon AVERAGE! so, for a 4X4 SUV, I would say that is really good! The SUV rides smooth, nimble, small turning radious, all I can want. With Michelin Snows, it digs in deep snow like childs play. If you want a real nice SUV, this is the one for you!

Got rid of my 2006 Infiniti M45 Sport, (definitely not a Minnesota winter car) for SRT Jeep. Lots of fun to drive, even in the winter. Awesome acceleration, turns heads!
